2 ingredient slime
Slime is the ultimate kids activities. It is fun for kids of all ages, helps kids explore science, and is waaaay cool! Kids of all ages love playing with this incredible sensory material! Get ready to be the coolest mom on the block with this outrageously fun 2 ingredient slime recipe that is easy to make and is the best slime recipe we’ve ever tried! Use this slime recipe with toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners, grade 1, and grade 2 students. Our family is obsessed with this 2 ingredient slime recipe.
Sure, you can buy slime, but it is filled with so many extra filler chemicals and is so much more expensive than just whipping up your own bath. Plus, following instructions, creating the play recipe from scratch is a nother way to use this as a learning activity. Students will need to follow directions carefully and read cautiously. Up until this point we’ve used a borax based slime recipe. It has a fantastic consistency, but we wanted to try something new. So we came up with this borax free slime recipe that is amazing to play with.
How do you make slime with 2 ingredients?
Have you noticed kids tend to like the messiest activities they can get their hands on? When they are babies they dump a big, red spaghetti bowl over their head. Toddlers stomp in mud puddles and every rain puddle they can find. They love to dig in the dirt to find worms, get popsicles all over their faces, get driveway chalk all over their hands — the list goes on and on. We Mom’s are made of a different cloth…. we like things neat and orderly and tend to wipe and clean up after the kids non stop. I mean NON STOP! Because the messes the children make are non stop.
Well, turns out all that sticking their hands in different matierals is actually good for them. Sticking their hands in a variety of textures, temperatures, and experimenting with how it feels on their fingers, how it falls the the surface, and how it reacts to different cause and effect is crucial to their development. Tactile learning can help students learn more, understand better, and work through problems more efficiently. Basically, sensory play is science for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners. Think about it – they try something to see what will happen. Then they repeat their experiment to see if it happens again, and again. They may changes to their experiment and try it again to see if the reaction will be the same.

So when you think about sensory play as an early educational activity – I guess we say bring on the mess….. ahem…. controlled mess. Some simple ways you can help your preschooler learn about the world around her through touch and feel include:
- sand box
- sensory bing
- water table
- bath time
- kinetic sand
- slime (more on that in a minute)
- foam
- eating jello
- playing with playdough
- arts and crafts
- sorting buttons
- planting a garden
- painting with their fingers
- wearing a variety of textures
- getting lots of hugs and kisses (physical touch)
- and the list goes on and on…..
Two ingredient slime
Let me introduce you to our favorite slime recipe – this 2 ingredient slime recipe is super easy to make and quick to whip up so you won’t have to wait long to play! This easy slime recipe is seriously the best you’ve ever played with!
Slime recipe
All you need for this simple 2 ingredient slime are a few simple materials:
- 8oz washable glitter glue
- 1/2 cup Sta Flo
2 ingredient slime recipe
Start out by making sure your little helpers have clean hands – nothing is more gross than seeing crumbs and buggers in your oozing slime, am I right?!
Okay, now get a large bowl. We like to use our metal mixing bowls, but a plastic bowl or tupperwear would be another good choice. I like to use a breakable container just in case…. Now pour 8oz washable glitter glue in your bowl.
Sure, you can use any liquid glue, but this washable glitter glue makes stunning colors and a wonderful texture – plus it saves the step of adding glitter. We’ve also found that using glue with glitter already in it cuts down dramatically on the glitter found around the house – a big plus in Daddy’s book! You can get the glitter glue in various colors including: red, pink, purple, blue, green, and yellow. We really like the royal blue coor with all the sparkle and shimmer. You can get any brand; they sell these on Amazon or in the store at Walmart, Joann Fabrics, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.

Now you need something to make a chemical reaction with the glue. Since this is a borax free slime we decided to use Sta Flo. You can get this blue liquid near the laundry detergent. It is used to starch clothes. As with any non-edible things you use with your kids, watch the kids to make sure they don’t ingest it. We don’t eat glue or sta flo! Now add
to the glue in your bowl.
Easy Slime Recipe
You can use a fork or spoon to mix it, but it is going to get so sticky, and you are about to play in this dough anyways… so we like to get our hands in it and mix it with our fingers. It mixes up in just a few minutes. It is super cool. If you want it thicker to make more of a gak or putty you can add more Sta Flo.
Use your fingers to mix the ingredients together until it thickens into the right texture. That’s it. It really is that easy.

As your kids mold the mixture and watch it flow and ooz through their hands and make a lovely pool. Seriously, this makes such pretty, shinny, and sparkly ribbons of slime. I was having so much fun pstretching, watching the mixture flow, pulling it up without any mess – I didn’t want to let the kids get ahold of it! This makes the best slime recipe. You will love it this slime recipe for kids easily goes back to a ball without sticking on your hands or surfaces. It is all the fun of slime without any of the mess! YAHOO!!
