6th Grade History
Although topics vary by state or schooling system, generally grade 6 social studies invovles studying ancient civilizations. Study ancient Mesopotamia history learning about Gilgamesh and the Summerians. Explore the fascinating Egyptians with these Ancient Egypt project ideas plus free worksheets. Learn about the Ancient Greeks, Ancient Romans, and Ancient Civilizations of MesoAmerica – Mayans, Incans, and Aztecs. If time allows, journey through the Middle Ages with grandiose castles, daring knights, and the beginning of the renaissance just as the world was being explored with early explorers.
*If you are a Bible-believing Christian you will want to start in the book of Genesis and go through a brief Old Testament Overview leading up to Summerians before diving back into a secular world history. I suggest continuing to weave Bible stories in with history so children will understand how it all took place chronologically. I suggest our Digging into World History curriculum which has lessons, videos, worksheets, coloring pages, projects, timelines, quizes, and more for the whole family!
