In this Worms Science Experiment, the baking soda reacts to the vinegar and creates a carbon dioxide gas bubbles that form in the liquid and as they are released they cause the worms to move! This is such a fun way to explore acids and bases.

Have you ever tried making Ice Cream in a Bag? It is a fun and delicious summer activity for kids. But what does it have to do with science?

The mixing of the salt and ice makes a solution. The salt lowers the temperature at which water freezes and you will notice the ice melt as your ice cream ingredients start to freeze. Secondly, making ice cream also allows kids to explore the states of matter: solid and liquid. As you complete this experiment you will begin with a liquid and watch the chemistry take place, changing it into a solid – ice cream! This is also a good example of reversible change – watch as the ice cream warms up for it to go from a solid back to a liquid again.

(a fancy word for will come off with water) When the water touches the candy, the colors begin to dissolve off and run into the water. Because of the shape of the plate and the positioning of the jelly beans (or skittles), the colors move to the middle of the plate making a beautiful array of colors.

Edible science experiments for kids

Slime is not only fun to play with and EDIBLE with this Edible Slime Recipe, but it is also a great way to teach kids about non-Newtonian fluids. So what is a non-Newtonian fluid? It is substance that is neither a liquid or a solid – It can be picked up like a solid and also will ooze like a liquid. Slime changes shape to fill whatever container it is in, but will also bounce like a ball because of its elasticity.

Granulated sugar is made up of sucrose molecules that form a molecular chains. Water dissolves the bond between sugar molecules. In this Edible Crystal experiment you will super-saturate the solution with even more sugar by making the solution hot. As the solution begins to cool down the molecules will once again form bonds and create large crystals.

Edible Agate is a really cool kitchen science experiment that shows examples of property changes and chemical changes. You will change both the physical structure of the candy and the chemical structure by creating new bonds between different types of candy using heat.

In this Pop Rock Science Experiment kids will observe balloons inflate as the carbon dioxide bubbles inside the pop rocks are released because of the high fructose corn syrup in the soda and has no where to go so it rises – filling the balloons.

Kids will be amazed by this Exploding Watermelon Science Experiment where you will learn about potential and kinetic energy! This is a great WOW kids activity for summer and yes it is still edible after the experiment!!
