Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering & Technical Architecture

JOB PURPOSE

As an Infrastructure Technical Architect, you will lead the research, design, development, and the implementation of new infrastructure technologies. You will collaborate with the team and vendor representatives on strategic projects, installations, moves, and changes. You will stay informed of current industry trends and emerging technologies. You will evaluate new technology, products, and services for potential opportunity as future infrastructure solutions or upgrade/replacement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the strategic architecture, design, automation, engineering, product lifecycle and development of Infrastructure Operations services, including virtualisation platforms, servers, storage, backups, data centres, databases and core infrastructure platforms, such as Active Directory and SCCM.
• Developing short and long-term strategic Infrastructure technology roadmaps, backed by pragmatic designs that support our enterprise technology roadmaps and key business objectives.
• Building plans and policies for infrastructure platform services, strategies and technologies.
• Establishing a consistent and progressive strategy and architecture for infrastructure, exploiting new market opportunities as appropriate.
• Strategically plan, develop and drive implementation of new initiatives to enhance the global business. This includes projects related to investments and improvements.
• Embrace, sponsor and coach agile ways of working with a view to automating services wherever possible.
• Ensuring that required metrics are understood and available. These metrics make certain the platform remains operational, optimised and available to business end users.
• Ensuring that key platform product life cycles are understood, tracked, and communicated with appropriate remediation when required.
• Provides ongoing information to management and peers regarding the general health of the environment, as well as enhancements and innovations.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure Architect with specialist understanding of On-Premise and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure architecture and solutions.
• Hands on experience of migrating infrastructure services to Cloud.
• Experience of working on large transformation projects.
• Strong experience working with HPE SimpliVity or other hyperconverged infrastructure technologies.
• Previous experience of designing, implementing and operating Microsoft Active Directory - both traditional and AzureAD.
• Previous experience in designing and implementing Citrix and other VDI / remote access solutions.
• Experience of working in an ITIL framework to deliver enterprise services.
• Extensive technical experience of the following infrastructure technologies:
  • Server Operating Systems: Linux, Windows.
  • Cloud services: Azure, Amazon, GCP.
  • Storage: SAN Technologies, Amazon S3, Azure Storage.
  • Backup: Data Protector, Backup libraries.
  • Windows platforms: Active directory, Azure Active Directory, File Shares, SCCM, Intune.
  • Database: SQL Server, MySQL, Amazon RDS.
  • Virtualisation Platforms: Citrix, VMWare, HPE SimpliVity.
  • Data Center / Hardware management.
