My 1st grader was zipping through our Language Arts program until we got to the rule breaker spelling words! Ugh…. the English language is hard! So I started using various creative activities and spelling games to help him interact with the words to practice without just drilling/writing them over and over again. These First Grade Word Search Printable seemed to do the trick! My student loves word searches, the cute clipart, and fun images on these 1st Grade Worksheets.

There are over 50 pages of first grade word search printable with about 20 words per page. I created them to go alongside our Sing Spell Read & Write (SSRW) Program, but they would be a great enrichment for any other spelling program or language arts curriculum. If you are using SSRW the lists begin with lessons 19 and go through the end of the book.

Note: These are a great way to practice spelling words, but they are not intended to take the place of a Language Arts curriculum.
You can always use a page protector and a dry erase marker so that your child(ren) can do these over and over without having to incur the cost of printing them over and over again.
