Experiment to show transpiration in plants
Can you see the moisture that has developed in the bag?
Transpiration for kidsÂ
The leaves’ stomata let out excess water from the plant that came from the roots. All day long plant roots absorb water from the soil and send it up through the plant’s veins to the leaves to enable photosynthesis, but the plant sends up more water than it needs. So, the leftover water escapes through the stomata in a process called transpiration. This is especially visible in the rainforest which causes it to be very humid.
