The artist was detained by police in Beijing following reports of sexual relations and predatory behaviour with young women. The detainment comes nearly a month after a public accusation by Du Meizhu, a woman claiming to be one of his victims. Wu and his team have denied the allegations.
It’s the latest development in a scandal that’s caused nearly all luxury brands to cut ties with the artist who’s become a powerhouse influencer in China.
Louis Vuitton was the latest house to distance itself from the star, announcing that it would be suspending its relationship with Wu on Weibo. Other brands, including Porsche and Bulgari, have followed suit. Lancôme and Kiehl’s have also removed mentions of the singer from their social media accounts.
